English
We will reading: The Lion Inside

We will be exploring the story that focusses on a shy mouse who learns to find his voice and confidence by emulating a bold lion.  

The children will participate in activities based on:

  • sentence structure
  • using connectives
  • plurals
 

Fractions 

We will learn that a fraction is part of a whole. The whole can be a shape, a length, a number or a set of objects. Fractions are always divided into equal parts. We will find halves and quarters. We will look at the equivalence between a half and two quarters.

Time

We will learning to tell the time using the terms o’clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to. 

Money

We will learning to count money using pounds and pence. 

 
Number Facts  

Children have access to Numbots / TT rockstars to help with quicker recall of number facts. Usernames and passwords for this will be sent out via Seesaw so that you can practise at home.

Electricity
 
We will look at where electricity comes from and what it is used for.  We will explore using a simple, series electrical circuit to light a bulb.  From this, we will investigate how switches work.    
 
Our learning question is:

Who was victorious in the struggle for the Kingdom of England?

We will be building on our history learning from the Autumn and Spring terms and continuing our journey through time.

Children will learn about:

  • the Battle of Edington

  • the Battle of Hastings.

  • the Kings from the 800s to 1066

Our learning question is:

What are the key features of rivers? 

River

We will be learning about:

  • the features of rivers 
  • rivers in Europe – the River Danube
  • rivers in England – the River Thames and River Severn 
  • rivers near Warrington – the River Mersey

Snack 

Children can bring in a healthy snack each day or they can buy toast for £1 a week. Please send £1 into school in an envelope with your child by 9.30am each Friday morning to pay for toast for the following week.

Alternatively you can pay for the term by bank transfer direct to school. Please use your child’s name and ‘TUCK’ as the reference.

PE

PE is on Wednesdays.

Swimming is on Thursday. 

Your child needs a full named PE kit including:

  • Black Shorts
  • Trainers
  • Black jogging bottoms
  • Black hooded top / jumper

Homework 

Homework is set every Monday.

Children should return their completed homework to class by Friday. 

Spellings

Weekly spellings are sent home via seesaw.

They will be tested as part of a dictation exercise every Thursday.
