We will reading:
 
Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers
 

We will be learning to:
• join words to form sentences with greater independence
• describe settings and characters
• sequence sentences to form short narratives
• consistently use a capital letter for places, days of the week and I. 
• punctuate using a capital letter and full stop

The children will write a new version of the story with a new character and / or new setting. They will include a beginning, middle and end to their story. 

 

Place Value 
 
We will be consolidating our understanding of numbers to 10 / 20 / 100.
We will explore place value, learn to partition numbers and confidently use place value charts. We will compare and order numbers as well as count in 2, 5, 10 and 3’s.  
 
 
Addition and Subtraction
 
We will begin to use some formal written methods to add and subtract two-digit numbers.
 
Number Facts 
 
Children have access to Numbots / TT rockstars to help with quicker recall of number facts. Usernames and passwords for this will be sent out via Seesaw so that you can practise at home.
States of matter
 

The children will:

  • learn about solids, liquids and gases
  • observe water as a solid, a liquid and a gas
  • explore the effect of heating and cooling water
  • carry out investigations into evaporation and the water cycle
Animals including humans 
 

The children will:

  • learn about the different parts of the human digestive system
  • discover about the different types of teeth animals have and their jobs
  • draw food chains.
 
Our learning question is:

What happened after the Romans left? 

We will be learning about the Anglo Saxons. We will find out: 

  • When the Anglo Saxons were in Britain
  • Why the Romans left 
  • Who the Anglo Saxons were and where they came from 
  • Why the Anglo Saxons came to Britain
  • What life was like in an Anglo Saxon village 
  • How the Anglo Saxons communicated
  • How Anglo Saxon Britain was ruled 

 

We will also be learning about Alfred the Great. 

Our learning question is:

What can you find in the UK and Europe?

We will be learning to:

  • name the 4 countries that make up the UK and the surrounding seas
  • name and locate the 7 continents 
  • name and locate the 5 oceans 
  • investigate climates 
  • compare the UK and Spain

Children can bring in a healthy snack each day or they can buy toast for £1 a week. Please send £1 into school in an envelope with your child by 9.30am each Friday morning to pay for toast for the following week.

Alternatively you can pay for the term by bank transfer direct to school. Please use your child’s name and ‘TUCK’ as the reference.

PE

PE is on Wednesdays and Thursdays

Your child needs a full named PE kit including:

  • Black hooded top / jumper

Homework 

Homework is set every Monday.

Children should return their completed homework to class by Friday. 

 

Spellings

Weekly spellings are sent home via seesaw.

They will be tested as part of a dictation exercise every Thursday. 

 

Reading Books

Reading books are collected in every Thursday and changed.

A new reading book will be sent home on Friday.
