English
We will reading: Nibbles: The Book Monster

We will be exploring the story that focusses on a mischievous, yellow monster who escapes his own story by nibbling through the pages and causes chaos in other classic fairy tales.

The children will participate in activities based on:

  • sentence structure
  • using connectives
  • plurals

They will write a diary entry as Nibbles.

Addition and Subtraction

We will begin to explore addition and subtraction using the column method. Good recall of addition and subtraction within 20 will support your child when working with the numbers in each column.

Multiplication and Division

We will be recognising, making and adding equal groups. As well as looking at doubling and halving and odd and even numbers.

Number Facts

Children have access to Numbots / TT rockstars to help with quicker recall of number facts. Usernames and passwords for this will be sent out via Seesaw so that you can practise at home.

Living things and their habitats / Animals including humans.

First, we will look at classifying living things.  This will take us onto exploring the local area for living things and answering the question, “What is special about our local environment?”  We will look at the dangers posed to the local area and beyond and ways in which we can protect it.

Our learning question is:

Who were the Vikings?

We will be building on our history learning from Autumn term and continuing our journey through time.

Children will

  • look at who the Vikings are
  • why they invaded
  • discussing different sources of information and bias
  • learn about the different kings during the Viking reign and their importance
Our learning question is:

What are the key features of mountains?

We will be learning about:

  • the features of mountains and mountain ranges
  • how they are formed

We will locate mountain ranges in Europe.
